Montgomery is a beautiful tranquil welsh town in the rolling hills of Montgomeryshire.
My family and I visit often as my husband is originally from here so we catch up with family and friends. We always try and sneak off to this quaint irresistible tearoom while the kids stay and entertain the Grandparents.
CASTLE KITCHEN is our secret haven and where we escape to relax for an hour. It never fails to impress and even though very small, this is what makes it so charming. The staff are so friendly and will go out of their way to do anything for you.
This weekend I sampled the Welsh Rarebit which is made from the locally brewed 'Monty' Ale. It was delicious!!My husband ordered mature cheese and caramelised onion chutney sandwich which was extremely tasty.
We then both sampled the mouth-watering Apple and Cinnamon Cake which is baked by one of the lovely girls in the kitchen. Again it didn't fail to impress and was packed with autumnal apples and would have also been lovely warm with custard. Heaven!!
Unfortunately we had to leave our little haven but before we left we had a look in the window where they sell delicious locally produced jams, pickles, cakes and other delights. We took a few gifts for some friends which included some Popty Cara Welsh Cakes (we're hiding these from the kids!).
As much as I don't want to tell anyone, if you're passing through Montgomery you must visit Castle Kitchen and enjoy the wonderful menu they have on offer.
I've been given a glut of apples so I will certainly be trying to recreate the Apple and cinnamon Heaven in the Incredible Kitchen when I get back home.

How to apply
Printed cake toppers will work on most cakes but the best results are achieved when used on smooth, fondant icing.
Before applying your edible print you’ll need to ensure your icing is slightly moist. The best way to achieve this without over dampening your cake is to spray a fine mist of water onto the surface of your cake before applying your cake topper.
